The Hudson Police Department is a 15 officer department serving a community of 4000 citizens in the foothills of Western North Carolina. Progressive policing with traditional values is our goal. We encourage professional development through experience, training and education. Employees returning to school seeking their Associate or Bachelor’s Degree may receive tuition reimbursement.
We offer a competitive pay package commensurate with experience coupled with a professional development plan that leads to promotions and increases in pay. Applicants looking to join our department with prior law enforcement experience may be hired in at different grades, giving them credit for their previous experience.
Rookie: Applicant having completed a North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Program with no Experience.
Starting Salary: $41,777.00
Police Officer I: Lateral transfer applicant having their General Certification and 2 years of full time
Law Enforcement Experience.
Starting Salary: $43,866.00
Police Officer II: Lateral transfer officers having their General Certification and 3 years of full time law
Starting Salary: $48,362.00
Consideration for additional certifications such as Instructor, Specialized Instructor, Radar and Intoximeter may affect starting salary.
In addition to our competitive pay package, each employee receives 12 paid holidays per year, as well as accrued sick and vacation leave. Health, Vision and Dental Insurance, along with 401k contribution and state retirement plans are in place to provide for the employees well-being and financial security.
We offer a take home car benefit to employees that reside within 25 miles of the Police Department, regardless of county of residence.
We have a well maintained fleet of assigned late model patrol vehicles, as well as all modern equipment and technology being used in local law enforcement.
We offer several different schedules depending upon position. Patrol officers work 4 days on and 4 days off. Community and School Resource Officers work a traditional Monday through Friday daytime schedule. We offer permanent non-rotating shifts with preferred shifts being available when a vacancy exists.
